Glytabs Consulting Applauds NBC
The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) has commissioned recycling banks in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria, to position themselves to collect and recycle their plastic bottles and cans for reuse by 2030. The facilities will serve as the hubs for collecting polyethylene terephthalate bottles i.e. PET bottles, and allow residents to turn their plastic wastes into cash, as part of the overall solution to the challenges of single-use plastics that litter the country.
At the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Adeoye Babajide, who represented the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, commended NBC for taking the bold step towards creating a sustainable approach for a healthier environment.
This initiative is in partnership with Chanja Datti Recycling Limited. The CEO, Mr. Olufunto Boro, explained that a recycling bank has a threefold focus: clearing wastes from the environment, income generation for members of the community through the Trash-for-Cash model, and addressing other socio-economic needs.
Glytabs Consulting applauds NBC for this commendable initiative towards ensuring a sustainable and safer environment for all, which is in line with Glytabs’ commitment to promoting excellence and sustainable innovation in Africa. It should be noted that the Lead/CEO of Glytabs Consulting Ltd, Prof Olugbenga Ogunmoyela, is the Chairman of the FCCPC Task Force on Implementation of Sustainable Consumption in Nigeria, currently focused on addressing the menace of industrial plastic packaging wastes in the country.
