A Stronger Future for Nigeria’s Laboratory Sector Takes Shape at Analab Summit 2025

The Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria, IPAN, convened a historic 2-day national summit of all stakeholders in the laboratory sector in Nigeria, tagged “Analab Summit 2025” on 10th and 11th November 2025. Glytabs Consulting Limited participated actively in this maiden Summit, which was held at Yard 158 in Ikeja, Lagos. The event brought together laboratory leaders, regulators, industry experts, and development partners who all shared a unified goal of strengthening Nigeria’s Analytical Laboratory Sector for better public health, food safety, and industrial growth.
The Summit created a vibrant space for frank discussions on the challenges slowing down the development in the sector. Participants highlighted issues such as fragmented regulations, heavy reliance on imported equipment, high operational costs, skills shortages, especially in maintenance, as well as infrastructural and quality assurance gaps. The conversations made it clear that the sector requires stronger coordination, more sustainable financing, and deliberate investments in modern technology.
A major highlight of the event was the role played by Glytabs CEO, Prof Olugbenga Ogunmoyela, who moderated one of the key panel sessions on the second day of the event. His moderation helped steer a rich and practical discussion on capacity development, regulatory alignment, and the exciting future of a coordinated sector for driving a vibrant laboratory sector in Nigeria. His contribution reinforced his commitment to strengthening national systems, and Glytab’s position as an industry leader, as a past President of the Society of Testing Laboratory Analysts of Nigeria and & Chairman of the 6th Governing Council of IPAN.
The second day also focused on global best practices, including insights on quality management under ISO 17025 and the need for harmonised regulatory oversight. Participants explored opportunities for collaboration and innovation while engaging with leading equipment suppliers to understand cost-effective options for the improvement of laboratory services.
At the close of the Summit, stakeholders adopted a communiqué calling for coordinated national reforms in the sector, better funding mechanisms to support a vibrant laboratory sector in Nigeria, with globally competitive quality systems and a clear National Analytical Laboratory Policy that can guide long-term progress.
For Glytabs Consulting Limited, the summit reaffirmed our belief that a strong and credible laboratory sector lies at the heart of Nigeria’s food safety and industrial transformation for the future.
We will continue to focus on providing quality assurance support for SMEs and large companies, product development and reformulation, regulatory compliance, food safety training, and technical advisory across the agri-food value chain.
